The Entrepreneur Next Door 🏡
My name is Zev Asch; welcome to The Entrepreneur Next Door Podcast. I've spent my entire career in what I call "the trenches of small business and entrepreneurship." I spent three decades as a successful corporate marketing executive in small and family-owned businesses, an academic career as a Graduate Marketing Professor and director of Entrepreneurship and leadership at Touro University Graduate School of Business, and over a decade as a business transformation coach.
As an avid podcast listener, I've always craved one that features unknown, grounded non-celebrities and entrepreneurs who can be my next-door neighbors.
Join me for intimate, unfiltered conversations with everyday people who took a leap into entrepreneurship and openly share their journey from failure to success. I spend hours preparing for each interview and asking intimate and challenging questions; one insight can make a profound difference in your business or life.
Finally, I promise that my podcast will never be used as a platform for me or my guests to self-promote. I strictly prohibit it and ensure each guest understands before being featured on my show.
My goal is to ensure that every episode delivers at least one insight that can help you improve your business or one aspect of your personal life.
Listen, subscribe, and share this channel with my thanks.

[47] Pia Wendelbo: Humanizing how business is done
Every business dreams of growth and scaling up. Successfully growing your business only happens by expanding your team. Listen to my guest and get valuable insights on how to manage change and people to ensure a smoother transition later on.
I prefer to introduce Pia Wendelbo as something other than an 'expert' in change management since the (overused) term often exaggerates one's accomplishments. However, Pia has amassed a wealth of experience in diverse fields, making her exceptionally effective in leading, directing, and managing organizational change.
Here are a few highlights of our conversation:
- Why a college degree won't guarantee you a job if Pia is doing the hiring
- How Pia uses her creativity, innovation, and fintech experience to humanize banking and change how consumers view banking in general
- How do you convert a bland (same-old) mission statement and force your client to live up to it?
- Pia's definition of the internal ecosystem necessary for organizational success.
- Why anyone who is in B2B is, by definition, also in B2C? An insightful and rare approach
- What is at the core of business development?
- Tech is great only if people use it. How did Denmark drive tech adoption?
- Stop dumping tech on your employees. Employees need time to learn and get comfortable with new technology
- What is the best thing that happened to introverts in the past four years?
- What is the biggest mistake companies make when they scale up?
